Search Tips

Following is information on how to utilize the search engine. I anticipate that this document will grow in time, especially with feedback I receive from you, the user. If you find a useful search tip that you would like to share with your fellow philatelists, let me know. I will gladly review it and possibly add it to the information below.

STAMPS SUPER SEARCH Search the entire database: Enter a word or phrase that is of interest. This method searches every field in the database and will yield the greatest results. It is also useful if you are unsure how to search for a particular item or if you are seeking a specialized interest. MULTI SEARCH Catalog Number: Use this field to search for a specific catalog number. Catalog Used: Defines a search by the catalog used in identification of the material. Country: Select a country, state or possession from the pull down menu. Items in this menu appear only when there is current inventory associated with them. Category: Select a category from the pull down menu. Using this field, for example, will allow you to search for all documentary stamps currently available, or you can use it along with the country field to search for a specific category from a specific country. One caveat — not all categories are available for all countries. Keywords: You may search on one and/or two keywords from the pull down menu. Search Recent Entries: This field allows you to search only for items added to inventory since the date you select. Only show items with prices between: Choose a price range of the items you with to review.

It is also useful if you are unsure how to search for a particular item or if you are seeking a specialized interest. MULTI SEARCH Title: Enter any portion of the title that you may know. Author: Enter any portion of the authors name. If you are unsure of spelling, enter only a portion that may be correct. Country: Select a country, state or possession from the pull down menu. Items in this menu appear only when there is current inventory associated with them. Keywords: You may search on one and/or two keywords from the pull down menu. Search Recent Entries: This field allows you to search only for items added to inventory since the date you select.
