Benjamin Lincoln served as a major general in the Continental Army and later as the first U.S. Secretary of War from 1781-83.
Thomas Melvill was a member of the Sons of Liberty, a participant in the Boston Tea Party, and served as a major during the Revolutionary War. He is the paternal grandfather of writer Herman Melville. |  |
